Update: Gander RCMP arrests man for indecent act towards youth

Twenty-four-year-old Tyler Thompson was arrested by Gander RCMP last week in relation to an investigation into an indecent act committed against a youth.

On September 22, 2022, police received the report and started the investigation. A youth, who was walking home from school, had been approached by a man driving a red Dodge Journey. The man, who was naked from the waist down, asked the youth to enter his vehicle. The youth ran away and reported the incident.

On September 29, 2022, Thompson was identified and was arrested. He attended court on Friday and was remanded into custody. He attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Invitation to sexual touching
  • Indecent Act (Public nudity)
  • Exposing genitals for a sexual purpose to person under the age of 16 years

The investigation is continuing. Parents are encouraged to speak to their children about incidents similar to this. Anyone who feels they have been victimized by this type of crime is asked to contact their local police to make a report.
