For the past several months the St. Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) has been monitoring a resident of St. Albert who is on 24-hour house arrest for property and drug related charges. St. Albert CRU learned that this individual was in possession of a firearm, which she is under a court order not to possess.
On Nov. 18, 2022, St. Albert CRU, with the assistance of St. Albert Drug Unit, St. Albert General Investigation Section, St. Albert General Duty, K Division Explosive Disposal Unit and K Division Criminal Intelligence/Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta, executed a search warrant at the residence where the individual resides. During the search, police located and seized the following items:
- Loaded 9 mm Handgun
- 22 calibre Rifle
- Ammunition/Magazines
- 151 grams of Methamphetamine
- 52 grams of Fentanyl
- $160 of Canadian Currency
- Grenade
- Body Armour
- Hundreds of Fraudulent/Stolen Identifications, Cheques, Credit Cards, & Passports
- Seal Embosser Stamps
- Embossing Machine
- Card Printing Machine
- Debit/Credit Card Machine
As a result of the search, a 38-year-old individual and a 35-year-old individual, both residents of St. Albert were arrested and charged.
The 38-year-old individual was charged with the following:
- Alter/Deface a Firearm
- Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm without Licence to Possess
- Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance X 2
- Carry/Handle/Transport Firearm in a Careless Manor
- Possession of a Firearm for a Purpose Dangerous to the Public
- Possession of Body Armour Without Valid Permit
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order X 5
- Unlawful Possession of a Credit Card
- Possession of Procured Identification Document X 2
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
The 35-year-old individual was charged with the following:
- Alter/Deface a Firearm X 2
- Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm without Licence to Possess X 2
- Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance X 2
- Carry/Handle/Transport Firearm in a Careless Manor X 2
- Possession of a Firearm for a Purpose Dangerous to the Public
- Possession of Body Armour Without Valid Permit
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited/Restricted Firearm
- Carry Concealed Prohibited/Restricted Firearm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order X 3
Both individuals were remanded in custody and will appear in St. Albert provincial court on Nov. 28, 2022.
