Shelburne RCMP charge man after he breaks-in to multiple homes

Shelburne RCMP has charged a man who broke into multiple homes on King St., Harding Boul. and Second St. in Shelburne.

On April 14, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Shelburne RCMP responded to a 911 call of an intoxicated and violent man at a home on Harding Boul. who had just threatened to kill the homeowner. While RCMP officers were responding to the scene, a second call was received of a break-in at another home on Harding Boul. where the same man asked if anyone wanted to fight before leaving.

Through investigation, RCMP officers identified the man was Gregory Perry and began making patrols in the area in an effort to locate him. While RCMP searched the area, two more calls were received of Perry breaking into homes on Second St. and King St.

In the break-in on Second St., the homeowners were threatened and a 64-year-old man was assaulted. In the break-in on King St., the homeowner was chased from his home as Perry challenged him to a fight.

RCMP officers arrived on scene moments later and Perry was safely taken into custody. Perry was transported to the Yarmouth Rural RCMP Detachment where he was lodged in cells overnight.

Gregory Lee Perry, 28, of Clark's Harbour, has been charged with the following:

  • Break and Enter and Commit (4 counts);
  • Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling-House (4 counts);
  • Trespass at Night (4 counts);
  • Uttering Threats (5 counts);
  • Mischief (4 counts);
  • Assault.

Perry was remanded into custody and appeared in Yarmouth Provincial Court on April 19, 2022. Perry was released on conditions by the court, including a curfew and that he abstains from consuming or possessing alcohol. Perry will appear in Shelburne Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on June 1, 2022.
