Saskatchewan RCMP – Your Provincial Police Service

We did not issue a weekly report last week, as we were focussed on keeping the public informed on the James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon investigation, as well as firearms-related incidents in Spiritwood and Maidstone RCMP's detachment areas.

Today's report contains our calls for service statistics and investigational summaries for the weeks of August 29 to September 4 and September 5 to 11.

Investigative Recap

"This is a large quantity of illicit drugs that is now off the streets," said Staff Sergeant Ryan How of Meadow Lake RCMP. "The RCMP remains committed to keeping the residents of Saskatchewan safe with a focus on removing drugs and weapons from our communities."

Meadow Lake RCMP continue to search for 32-year-old Dylan Lasas of Waterhen Lake First Nation who has been charged with:

  • 1 count, discharge firearm with intent, Section 244(b), Criminal Code; and
  • 1 count, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code.

Dylan Lasas is described as approximately 5'10" and 220 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Dylan Lasas should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him. If you have information on his whereabouts, contact your local RCMP detachment immediately by calling 310-RCMP. In emergency, call 9-1-1. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.

  • September 2: Saskatchewan RCMP lays second charge against Benjamin Michael Moore
  • September 4: At 2:22 a.m., Craik RCMP was advised of a single vehicle rollover, Highway # 11 just south of the south entrance to Davidson, SK. EMS was on scene and the 51-year-old driver was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Analyst completed the on-scene investigation. At this time, police do not believe drugs or alcohol being a factor in the collision. The cause of the collision is still being investigated by police.
  • September 5: At approximately 1:45 p.m., Maple Creek RCMP responded to a single motorcycle collision just east of Maple Creek. The investigation has determined that the driver, a 55-year-old male from Windsor, Ontario, lost control before entering the south ditch. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
  • September 5: At approximately 2:57 p.m., the Saskatchewan RCMP received multiple 911 calls advising that multiple vehicles had been involved in a collision approximately 5 kilometers west of Morse on Highway #1. Road conditions at the time were near white out due to high winds blowing salt residue from a dry lake bed blowing across the highway. Visibility was reduced to less than 15 meters. Morse RCMP, with assistance from Swift Current RCMP officers, responded to the scene. Traffic control was initiated at Herbert to divert traffic away from the site and at Reed Lake Terminal to allow vehicles congested in the eastbound lane to turn around. EMS and Fire attended the scene and several persons were transported to hospital with injuries, none of which were determined to be life-threatening. There were no fatalities. The subsequent investigation determined that 16 vehicles were involved in total.
  • September 6: Maidstone RCMP: three charged after incidents that resulted in emergency alert
  • September 7: Saskatchewan RCMP Commanding Officer's statement on arrest of Myles Sanderson, update to James Smith Cree Nation/Weldon investigation
  • September 7: Saskatchewan Coroner's Service and Saskatchewan RCMP release names of the deceased victims
  • September 9: Maidstone RCMP are asking the public for information leading to the recovery of two seadoos stolen from Marshall, SK on August 10. The seadoos were on a 2015 trailer with Alberta licence plate 5AA358 and stolen with the trailer. The seadoos are described as: Red 2015 SPK 3UP 90 (photo) and Yellow 2014 Pro 2 (photo). Police have no leads at this time. Anyone with information about the stolen seadoos and/trailer is asked to contact Maidstone RCMP at 306-893-4800.
