The Chaleur Region RCMP is releasing composite sketches of two people believed to be involved in an assault and attempted abduction on Highway 180 between Saint-Quentin and Bathurst last week.
RCMP received a report that on May 23, 2022, around 7:00 p.m., a woman was flagged down by another woman on the side of the road who asked for help to change a tire on a light-coloured panel van. The woman described the incident as taking place about 25 minutes past Saint-Quentin toward Bathurst. When the driver got out of her car, she was assaulted by two men who tried to pull her into the van. The woman was able to get away and fled the scene.
The first suspect involved in the incident is described as a woman with long blonde hair in curls, and was wearing a long pink jacket. She spoke French and English with no apparent accent.
The second suspect is a man described as having dark hair, dark eyes, and a dark full beard that was approximately 1" (2.54 cm) long.
A third suspect was also involved in the incident is described as clean shaven man with dark hair and eyes. A sketch of the third suspect could not be created at this time. One of the two men is believed to have suffered a serious eye injury in the incident.
"We are hoping someone may recognize either of the suspects and provide information that might further the investigation," says Sgt. Roch Lizotte with the Chaleur Region RCMP. "If you recognize either of these people, please call police. Any bit of information helps."
Anyone with information about the incident, or who was travelling on Highway 180 near Saint-Quentin between 4 and 8 p.m. on May 23, is asked to contact the Chaleur Regional RCMP at 506-548-7771.
