RCMP Police Dog Services safely locates missing woman with dementia in Clarenville

A woman with dementia and her dog, who were reported missing in Clarenville yesterday afternoon (June 7, 2022), were safely located by RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS).

Two PSD Teams, Sergeant Butler and Police Service Dog (PSD) Kaos and Corporal Bushey and PSD Kane, who were on training in the St. Johns' metro area, were dispatched to assist in the search.

An extensive ground search was conducted by the two PDS teams and members of the Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search and Rescue Team, with air support provided by Government Air Services. The woman and her dog were safely located by Corporal Bushey and PSD Kane near the NL Power Substation in Clarenville. Both were in good health and were reunited with their family.

RCMP Police Service Dogs are used to assist police officers with many situations, including missing persons. RCMP NL thanks all who assisted in the successful search for the woman and her dog.
