RCMP investigating two fatal motorcycle crashes over the weekend

Two men died this past weekend when the motorcycles they were operating crashed.

On Friday afternoon, August 19, 2022, Deer Lake RCMP received a report at approximately 1:30 p.m. of a motorcycle crash on the Trans Canada Highway near Little Rapids.

The driver, a 53-year-old resident of Pasadena, was found deceased at the scene. He was wearing a helmet which came off during the crash.

On Saturday, August 20, Mary's Harbour RCMP received a report just after 7:00 p.m. of a motorcycle crash on route 510, approximately three kilometres north of Mary's Harbour.

The driver, a 58-year-old from Quebec, died at the scene. He was also wearing a helmet which came off during the crash.

The investigations are continuing and will examine the role speed may have played in the crashes.

Motorcyclists are reminded to wear helmets and ensure they are fastened correctly, and to obey posted speed limits.
