RCMP charge five people in drug trafficking investigation

The Yarmouth/Clare RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged five people in a drug trafficking investigation after executing a search warrant at a home on Parade St. for the second time in three months.

On January 24, Yarmouth/Clare SCEU, executed a search warrant at a home on Parade St. in Yarmouth. Five people were arrested without incident. Police searched the home and seized cocaine, pills, drug paraphernalia, and cash.

The following people have been charged:

  • Frederick Henry Comeau, 57, of South Ohio;
  • John Marshall Hatfield, 60, of Yarmouth;
  • Corinne Marie Smith, 57, of Yarmouth;
  • Joan Kristin Hurlburt, 29, of Yarmouth, and
  • Joshua Mark Smith, 27, of Yarmouth.

They have all been charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. All five accused were released on conditions and will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on April 11, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation was assisted by the Yarmouth RCMP General Investigation Section, Digby RCMP General Investigation Section, Yarmouth Rural RCMP, Yarmouth Town RCMP, Meteghan RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

Note: Attached is a photo of items seized during the search. Additionally, this is the second time in three months that police have executed a search warrant at this home with the last search warrant execution occurring in October 2021. Charges were laid in that case as well.
