On September 28, 2022, at approximately 2 p.m. (AST), officers of the RCMP/Halifax Regional Police Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested 36-year-old Jeremy MacKenzie at a home in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.
As a result of this investigation, Jeremy Mackenzie remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Saskatchewan on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 9 a.m.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Provost unit will assist in the transport of Mackenzie pursuant to Sec. 503(3)(b) of the Criminal Code, from Halifax, NS, to Saskatoon, SK, within the 6-day remand time. The Saskatchewan RCMP Provost unit's involvement in this transport follows routine protocol for partner police agencies requiring assistance.

Mackenzie's arrest warrant in Saskatchewan was extended to all of Canada on September 21, 2022.

Saskatoon RCMP received a report in March 2022 of an assault that occurred in November 2021 in the Rural Municipality of Viscount in Saskatchewan. As a result of investigation, on July 18, 2022, 36-year-old Jeremy Mackenzie of Nova Scotia was charged with:
- 1 count, assault, section 266 of the Criminal Code
- 1 count, point a firearm, section 87(2) of the Criminal Code
- 1 count, use a restricted weapon in a careless manner, section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
- 1 count, mischief, section 430(4) of the Criminal Code
