Heavy police presence in County of Grande Prairie – Update #1

On Feb. 14, 2022, at approximately 12:38 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a male at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital suffering from what was believed to be a gun shot wound.

Grande Prairie RCMP located the 44-year-old male victim at the hospital where he was being treated for his injuries. The male victim suffered a serious, non life threatening gun shot wound to his back.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred in the area of Range Road 72 and Township Road 714 in the County of Grande Prairie, Alta. The suspect and victim were known to one another, and it was determined the suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

Grande Prairie RCMP remain on scene, while Grande Prairie General Investigation Section continues to investigate this incident. An additional update will be provided once further information is available.

Heavy police presence in County of Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie, Alta. - Grande Prairie RCMP are currently investigating an incident in the area of Range Road 72 and Township Road 714 in the County of Grande Prairie, Alta. There will be a heavy police presence in the area. Residents are asked to avoid the area and to not post photos or details of police activity on social media until the incident has been resolved.
