Elk Point RCMP lay charges after suspect fires gun in residence

On July 13, 2022, Elk Point RCMP received a report of a male destroying a residence and firing a gun at Fishing Lake. RCMP contained the area and located the suspect a short distance away. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the residence revealed damage in multiple locations and evidence that at least one round was fired. RCMP also located a stolen rifle.

A 32-year-old individual, of the Elizabeth Metis Settlement, has been charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Mischief
  • Weapons offences (x3)
  • Discharge firearm while being reckless
  • Obstruction
  • Fail to comply with release conditions

The individual has been remanded in custody with his next court appearance set for July 18, 2022, at Lac La Biche Provincial Court.
