Alberta RCMP Major Crimes investigate suspicious death of missing male from Fort Macleod Update #1

On June 23, 2021, Lane Tailfeather's family reported him missing to the Fort Macleod RCMP. Fort Macleod RCMP conducted a missing person investigation that transitioned to a homicide investigation. On July 20, 2021, Tailfeather's remains were found in a remote area near Crowsnest Pass, Alta. It was determined that the homicide occurred in Fort Macleod between June 20 and 21, 2021.

On May 13, 2022, five people were arrested in relation to this homicide. The following people have been charged with offences related to the murder:

A 43-year-old individual and a 28-year-old individual of Fort Macleod have been charged with second-degree murder. Their next court date is on May 18, 2022, in Fort Macleod.

A 40-year-old individual of Fort Macleod has been charged with second-degree murder. His next court date is on May 16, 2022, in Lethbridge, Alta.

A 37-year-old individual of Claresholm, Alta. has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and an indignity to a body. Her next court date is May 16, 2022, in Lethbridge.

A 51-year-old individual of Granum, Alta. has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and an indignity to a body. His next court date is May 18, 2022 in Fort Macleod.

As these matters are before the courts, no further information can be provided.
