Yellowknife RCMP respond call to with multiple units

Yellowknife RCMP are seeking to identify two male suspects after attending a call for service at a Yellowknife multi-residential building.

At approximately 6 PM on April 7, Yellowknife RCMP received a call regarding an alleged break and enter with a weapon. A weapon was allegedly used in the event, however there were no injuries.

Multiple RCMP attended the scene. A perimeter was establishing around the building as a precaution to ensure public safety in an evolving incident. NT RCMP Police Dog Service also assisted.

The investigation is ongoing, however at this time, there is no risk to the general public as the individuals involved are believed to be known to one another. No arrests have been made.

Two male suspects remain unidentified, with no clothing or description at this time. RCMP are asking anyone who may have information on the suspects or this incident to please contact Yellowknife RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS) at 867-669-1111.

It is noted that a local media agency reported that calls to Yellowknife Detachment were not answered. To clarify, calls to non-emergency, administration lines are operated Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. All calls to Yellowknife emergency lines (669-1111) are answered 24/7 by trained operators at the NT RCMP Operational Communications Centre, where 9-1-1 police calls are also re-routed and answered.
