The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested two men and seized various types of drugs, firearms, weapons, stolen property and cash, as part of an ongoing drug investigation that began in November 2020.

On January 27, 2021, at approximately 6 a.m., police executed a search warrant at a home on Route 102, in Burton, N.B. During the search, police encountered a fortified door and two hidden in-floor compartments. A 31-year-old man from Burton and a 23-year-old man from Moncton were arrested at the scene.

Police seized various types of drugs including what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, hashish, methylenedioxymethamphetamine pills (MDMA) and hydromorphone pills (Dilaudid). Police also seized several firearms, weapons, and money, as well as stolen property including two all-terrain vehicles and items believed to belong to the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown.

The 31-year-old man was remanded into custody on an unrelated matter. The 23-year-old man was later released.

The investigation was conducted as part of a coordinated law enforcement approach that involves resources from the New Brunswick RCMP, including Police Dog Services, as well as the Woodstock Police Force and Fredericton Police Force. These efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.

The RCMP continues to work collaboratively with members of the Canadian Forces Military Police Group during the ongoing investigation.

The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police.
