Two RCMP officers from Sheshatshiu detachment were quick to respond to an individual who was experiencing a mental health crisis in the community earlier this month.
During the evening hours, Sheshatshiu RCMP received a report of an individual who was walking in a body of water and was crying. Police attended and attempted to encourage the individual to come to shore. The person continued to walk further away from the shoreline towards a drop off and an area of water having a strong current. Officers entered the water and quickly travelled out to shoulder height to reach the individual, who was brought safely to the shoreline and was transported for medical care.
RCMP NL thanks the two officers for their quick response and dedication to public safety.
