The Grand Manan RCMP is scaling back the active search for a missing 41-year-old man from the community, and is now considering it a recovery effort.
Thomas (Tommy) Lundie was last seen at approximately 10:45 p.m., on January 7, 2021, at the end of Red Point Road. He was reported missing to police the following day.
A number of agencies and volunteers have been involved in efforts to locate him over the last number of days, including members of the West District RCMP, the New Brunswick RCMP's Air Services and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (drone), as well as volunteers with several provincial Ground Search and Rescue teams.
"Despite extensive efforts, we have unfortunately not been able to locate Mr. Lundie" says Sgt. Christopher Henderson with the West District RCMP. "While the investigation is ongoing, information gathered has led us to believe there is a strong likelihood that he could be in the water. Without further information or leads as to a more exact location, our active search is being scaled back."
Thomas Lundie is still considered a missing person and police continue to be in contact with his family. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Thomas Lundie is asked to contact the Grand Manan RCMP detachment at 506-662-1210.
