For the second time in a week, Island police find themselves dealing with a seal pup who has made its way to land. On Tuesday, February 23rd, Queens district RCMP received a call from a concerned citizen that a seal pup had crossed the highway near Fairview and was now headed into the field, away from the water.

The RCMP responded and located the trail left by the pup which stretched nearly three kilometers inland. The RCMP and a member from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans utilized a snowmobile and the RCMP's Traffic Unit's drone to locate the disoriented seal.

The seal was safely captured and transported by snowmobile back to the road way. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans then transported the seal to the north shore where it was release back into the water. Some days are better than others in the world of policing!
