Cow Lake, Alberta

News release

The RCMP are actively trying to identify and locate a suspect involved in pointing a firearm at a County Peace Officer this morning.

At 11:45 a.m., a County Peace Officer attempted a traffic stop of an older model Jeep near Cow Lake. The male driver got out of the Jeep, retrieved a rifle from the back seat, and pointed it at the Officer. He did not fire the rifle. The County Peace Officer repositioned, and the male drove away. He has not been located.

The RCMP are asking for public assistance in identifying the suspect male and locate the vehicle.

Given that he is in possession of a rifle, the public is warned to not approach this male or the vehicle. If you have information about the suspect's identity, please contact the Rocky Mountain House RCMP at 403-845-2881. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
