Three RCMP Traffic Services West patrol vehicles.

RCMP Traffic Services West conducted distracted driving enforcement on February 21, 22 and 23, 2021, between Deer Lake and Corner Brook. A number of tickets were issued.

The following is a breakdown of the offences and numbers of tickets issued:

  • Using hand held wireless communication device while driving, 17 violations.
  • Driver not wearing a seat belt, five violations.
  • Failing to produce proof that an insurance policy is in force, two violations.
  • Operate unregistered vehicle not exceeding 4500 kg, one violation.
  • Failing to stop at a red light, one violation.
  • Failing to stop at a stop sign, one violation.
  • Driving with a snow covered windshield, one violation.
  • Failing to produce license upon request, one violation.

RCMP NL continues enforcement of distracted drivers and warns motorists of the dangers they place themselves and others in while driving in this manner.
