Project Barnacle offender Jacob Doyle arrested on Canada-wide warrant

More than 11 pounds of MDMA (ecstasy) was seized as part of project Barnacle by RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crimes Unit in St. John's.

Twenty-four-year-old Jacob Dean Doyle turned himself in to RCMP in Golden, British Columbia, on October 18, 2021, following the issuance of a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest in relation to drug charges stemming from RCMP NL's Project Barnacle. Project Barnacle is an organized crime investigation led by the RCMP NL's Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit in St. John's.

On September 20, 2021, charges in relation to one of the largest seizures in Newfoundland and Labrador of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, were laid against Doyle. More than 11 pounds of the drug were seized by RCMP in St. John's as part of Project Barnacle. Doyle is charged with trafficking in MDMA and possession for the purpose of trafficking in MDMA under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Doyle turned himself in last week and was remanded into custody by a judge in British Columbia. He was returned to Newfoundland and Labrador and attends court today.
