A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder with a firearm and numerous other offences following a shooting incident in Riverview that occurred at the beginning of January 2021.
On January 5, at about 5:15 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a shooting incident near the Riverview High School that sent a 35-year-old man to hospital with serious injuries.Following an extensive search and an emergency alert message that was issued to the public, a suspect was arrested in Amherst, N.S., the next morning.
On February 24, Janson Bryan Baker of Moncton was charged in Moncton Provincial Court with 16 offences in connection with the shooting incident.

- possession of a firearm contrary to order
- contravention of firearm storage regulations
He was also charged with 16 other offences investigated by the Southeast District RCMP and Codiac Regional RCMP in relation to several incidents that occurred between November 21, 2020 and January 5, 2021. Some of those charges include armed robbery, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, theft of a vehicle and possession of stolen property.
Janson Bryan Baker remains in custody at a federal institution and is scheduled to return to court on March 10.
