Leduc RCMP Drug Unit seize guns and drugs

In August 2021, Leduc RCMP Drug Unit entered into a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation in the area of Leduc, Alta.

On Oct. 14, 2021, Leduc RCMP Drug Unit with the assistance of Leduc RCMP Detachment members, Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, Leduc General Investigation Section, Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CADCRU) and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the Windrose are of Leduc, Alta.

A search of the residence and a vehicle resulted in the seizure of four firearms, approximately 70 grams of cocaine, a quantity of Canadian currency, several digital scales and drug packaging.

A 34-year-old male (34) of Leduc, Alta. has been charged with 30 offences. Some of which include:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance x 3 - cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose x 4
  • Possession of firearm while unauthorized
  • Possession of proceeds of crime x 3

Following a Judicial Hearing he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Edmonton Federal Court on Oct. 18, 2021

A 45-year-old male of Leduc, Alta. has been charged with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

He was released on conditions to appear in Leduc Provincial Court on Nov. 25, 2021.
