As a result of further investigation and the results of the autopsy in March 2021, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes identified the human remains as belonging to missing person, Tyler Johnson, a 26-year-old male from Grande Prairie, Alta.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes' investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tyler's death led to obtaining an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old female of Red Deer, Alta. for the murder of Tyler Johnson. On Oct. 12, 2021, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes, along with the assistance of Maskwacis RCMP and the Edmonton Police Service, arrested the 32-year-old female in Edmonton.

Following a judicial hearing, she was remanded into custody, and her next scheduled court appearance is in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Oct. 26, 2021.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information can be provided.
