On Oct. 1, 2021, the Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section, Airdrie RCMP General Duty members and the Calgary Police Service, concluded a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation. Members executed a CDSA Search Warrant at a residence in the neighbourhood of Sagewood, located in Airdrie, Alta.
The investigation led to the seizure of approximately 120 grams of suspected cocaine, a restricted 40 calibre handgun with ammunition and a significant amount of Canadian currency. Police also seized a 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport (approximate value of $18 000) as offence related property.
A 28-year-old male of Airdrie, Alta has been charged with the following:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
- Two counts of fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking
- A 27-year-old female of Airdrie, Alta has been charged with the following:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
The 27-year-old female was released on conditions at the scene. The 28-year-old male was remanded into custody and will appearing in court in Calgary on Oct. 4, 2021. As these matters are now before the courts, no further updates or details surrounding the incident will be provided.
