On December 14, 2020, Manitoba RCMP Federal Policing investigators, with the assistance of the Winnipeg Police Service, arrested Peter Nygard, 79, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The arrest follows a request from the United States to Canada to initiate extradition proceedings against Nygard in order to face charges in the United States as part of an ongoing investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and New York Police Department (NYPD).
Nygard is currently remanded in custody pending a bail hearing and further extradition proceedings.
