RCMP officer injured during arrest

An RCMP officer was injured while arresting an intoxicated man in Antigonish.

Just before midnight on April 27, an Antigonish RCMP member was getting fuel at a service station on Beech Hill Rd. when he was approached by a taxi driver about an unruly passenger. The officer proceeded to arrest the passenger, a 25-year-old man, for being drunk in public. During the arrest, the intoxicated man lost his balance and fell to the ground with another officer who had arrived to assist. The assisting officer injured his wrist as a result and required medical treatment.

The 25-year-old man was not injured during the arrest and was released with a Summary Offence Ticket for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.
