Assault and weapons charges laid in Shelburne County

On March 3 at 10:41 a.m., members of Shelburne RCMP were dispatched to a complaint that a 24-year-old man had threatened another man with a knife.

The victim, and an adult female and two small children who had been in the home on Hammond Rd. when the incident occurred had left the home before police arrived. No one was hurt. Police arrived at the home and arrested the 24-year-old suspect without incident. He was held in custody overnight and taken to Yarmouth Provincial Court on March 4.

Cade Alexander Benham, 24, of Jordan Bay has been charged with:

  • Assault With a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Grievous Bodily Harm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

Benham is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on March 20.

The investigation is ongoing.
