Richmond District RCMP is pleased to announce Sergeant Darryl MacMullin as the new District Commander for Richmond County RCMP, which includes Richmond County and Potlotek First Nation. Sgt. MacMullin joined the RCMP in 2007 from his home province of Nova Scotia and has worked in several communities across Canada since joining the force. He was first posted to Springdale, NL before taking a posting to a remote northern fly-in community in Natuashish. in 2012, MacMullin accepted a transfer to Sydney to work as an investigator with Federal, Serious, and Organized Crime. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal and accepted a transfer to Inuvik, NWT in 2014. In 2016, MacMullin transferred back to Hopedale, NL and was promoted to Sergeant. In June of 2018, accepted the position as District Commander in Richmond County.
"My family and I are very fortunate and pleased to have returned to our home province where we will be raising our two boys. I am very happy to have accepted this position as District Commander in Richmond County. Being a "Caper", originally from Glace Bay, it gives me great pleasure to return home to work in Cape Breton, particularly beautiful Richmond County," says Sgt. MacMullin. "I look forward to working with the dedicated group of members here in Richmond County as well as our community members, business owners, government officials, and the Chief & Council of Potlotek First Nation. Collectively, we will all strive to make the communities we serve in Richmond County a safe place to live and work."
