On Nov. 9, 2018, Elk Point RCMP Detachment with the assistance of the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) and Cold Lake Police Dog Services (PDS) located and arrested two males on a number of outstanding warrants and new charges.
Police were conducting patrols in the Frog Lake area and located a stolen truck from Dewberry, Alta. and were attempting to stop it when it fled. No pursuit was initiated and the truck was later located abandoned.
PDS were able to track the suspects to a neighbouring residence. Police entered the residence and located two males who were taken into custody without incident.
A 24-year-old male of Fishing Lake has been charged with:
- Possession of stolen property over $5000
- Flight from police
- Dangerous driving
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a firearms prohibition
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Careless use of a firearm
- Theft under $5000
At the time of his arrest, he was also wanted for possession of stolen property over $5000 and flight from police.
A 17-year-old male of Fishing Lake was also arrested in relation to this offence, but his name cannot be released, as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Both of the accused were remanded into custody and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on Nov. 15, 2018.
