Disclosure of wrongdoing under the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act (PSDPA) 2011-2012

A disclosure of wrongdoing under the PSDPA was received by the RCMP Senior Officer in 2010. Following an extensive review it was determined that a wrongdoing had occurred contrary to the PSDPA. The founded wrongdoing was pursuant to Section 8(b) of the PSDPA, specifically a misuse of public funds by a senior manager, valued at less than $500.00 and with regard to a single instance of travel. The senior manager was disciplined for a breach of the RCMP code of conduct. Moreover steps have been taken to recover any funds owed to the government. Additionally, an administrative review of the work area was conducted and quality assurance measures have been implemented.
