- J Division Headquarters, Fredericton, New Brunswick. The committee was provided with 2019 national harassment statistics and the 2018 J Division Public Service Employee Survey (PSES) results for review and discussion.
Objective
During this past year, J Division has met its commitments highlighted within the GHAC Annual Report 2018 to 2019 by delivering presentations to enhance awareness on RCMP Harassment Policy and Investigation Process while promoting and distributing Harassment-Free Zone pamphlets throughout the Division.
Current status
- Promoting Healthy Workplaces: The Commanding Officer has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the St. John Ambulance to collaborate on the offering of the Therapy Dog Program within any and all of its facilities in J Division.
- Committee Engagement: The Commanding Officer has asked the committee members to assist in providing recommendations that would affect positive cultural changes within our policing environment.
Next steps
- Division Communique - re-introducing committee members and its purpose.
- Promote PSES through the Committee Members.
- Commanding Officer to include notes on Harassment and Healthy Workplaces while addressing all categories of employees (e.g., Block Training, etc.).
- Committee to provide recommendations to enhance morale, leadership, supervision and healthy workplaces to ensure employee concerns are raised to the highest level and to identify risk factors within our policing environment.
- Modernize Harassment Pamphlet.
- Align GHAC with Peer to Peer initiatives.
Recommendations
- J Division wishes to recommend the implementation of quarterly National GHAC teleconferences to provide for guidance, best practices, upcoming changes and updates on the Vision150 initiatives.
