Operating context

Public dialogue on policing and justice and the role of civilian oversight continues to impact the RCMP's operating context. Broader external disruptions driven by social and economic instability, environmental factors and the pace of technological change continue to be felt. As these factors influence criminal activity, the RCMP is responding by working to proactively manage its evolving scope.

The RCMP continues to: examine traditional policing responses through the use of using new technologies and training methods, find ways to better support employees, treat all those it serves with dignity and respect, and carry out services in ways that build trust and confidence. The resulting modern, agile organization will be better prepared for operations and will be guided by a strengthened vision, a more comprehensive strategic framework, and an integrated risk and performance measurement system.
