Sexual assaults
If the sexual assault recently occurred, is in progress, or you are in need of immediate medical/policing assistance, please call 9-1-1.
The Alberta RCMP are committed to ensuring a victim-centred and trauma informed response is provided to all survivors of sexual violence.
The Canadian Justice System has long recognized sexual violence as one of the most violent crimes an individual may ever face in their lifetime, next to being a victim of a homicide or attempted homicide. This is regardless of any physical injuries that may be received but rather due to the likely long-term emotional and psychological trauma stemming from the sexual assault.
The Alberta RCMP is pleased to announce the creation of Specialized Investigation Units in Grande Prairie and Wood Buffalo detachments. These units are composed of RCMP Members who are specially trained in victim-centered and trauma-informed practices to deliver a high quality of service to sexual violence survivors.
