Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit charge repeat offender with drug trafficking

On Feb. 16, 2024, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit identified a repeat offender operating a motor vehicle. Officers conducted surveillance of the vehicle and observed a different repeat offender in the vehicle who had outstanding warrants. A traffic stop was conducted, and the passenger with outstanding warrant was arrested. After a subsequent investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted where officers located quantities of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl and GHB.

A 45-year-old individual, a resident of Wetaskiwin, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (X3)
  • Possession pf proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.

The individual was taken before a justice of the peace and release with a next court date set for March 14, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
