A 40-year-old man from Grand Barachois, N.B., and a 53-year-old man from Shediac, N.B., have been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation in the southeast region of the province.
In January 2024, members of the New Brunswick RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in the Southeast region of New Brunswick.
On February 22, 2024, PCRU members, with assistance from the New Brunswick RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and the Federal Serious and Organized Crime unit, executed three search warrants at a residence on Francois Road in Grand Barachois where a 53-year-old man was arrested, a residence on Stead Street in Shediac, and a residence on Cap Bimet Boulevard in Grand Barachois where a 40-year-old man was arrested. The 53-year-old man was later released.
As a result of the three searches, police seized quantities of what is believed to be one kilogram of cocaine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and money.

He has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and failure to comply with a release order. He remains in custody, and is scheduled to return to court on March 5, at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.
