On March 1, 2024, at approximately 1:40 am, RCMP initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle on 7th Street East in The Pas. The vehicle failed to stop for police and fled at a high rate of speed.
Patrols were made and officers located the vehicle, which had crashed into a fence, just off 9th Street. The driver had fled on foot.
Officers located a sawed-off rifle and ammunition in the vehicle.
Further investigation led officers to identify the driver and he was arrested at a residence in The Pas.
Along with outstanding warrants, Houston Nasecapow, 26, was also charged with:
Flight from Peace Officer
Fail to Comply x 3
Possession of a Firearm with a Tampered Serial Number
Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Weapons Possession Contrary to Order
Unsafe Storage of Firearms
Possession of a Firearm/Prohibited weapon when knowing Possession is Unauthorized
Possession of a Restricted Firearm/Prohibited Weapon with Ammo without Licence
He was remanded into custody.
