On September 4, 2024, at approximately 9:10 pm, Stonewall / Headingley RCMP were called to a report of an assault and disturbance at a residence located in the RM of Macdonald. Information received indicated that a 23-year-old male had assaulted a female inside the home and attempted to light several vehicles on fire.
Officers arrived on scene and were confronted by the 23-year-old male who was armed with an edged weapon.
The confrontation led to an officer discharging their firearm. The 23-year-old male, who sustained a gunshot injury, was taken into custody and provided immediate medical attention by the officers.
The 23-year-old male was transported to hospital by ambulance in stable condition. He has since been released into police custody where he remains.
No other injuries were reported.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has taken carriage of the investigation. No further details will be provided at this time.
