In 2021, the province implemented a new model to reform local governance in the province of New Brunswick. The Local Governance Reform (LGR) resulted in the creation of 77 local governments, 12 rural districts, and includes an expanded mandate for regional service commissions.

As part of the restructuring plan, policing service boundaries will be impacted across the province in select communities to correspond to the local governance reform.

Effective August 1, 2024, the area at 3701 Westfield Road, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, which was previously served by the Saint John Police Force, will now be responded to by the RCMP for all police service calls, including 911.

The enclosed image outlines the boundaries of the new service area.

This change marks the beginning of New Brunswick's implementation of policing boundary changes related to the LGR initiative. More information about changes in other communities will be shared as the process continues and those changes are implemented.

The New Brunswick RCMP is committed to working closely with the province, and all service partners, to meet their goals while keeping you, your family, and homes safe. Our aim is to provide police protection services that foster vibrant, sustainable communities. To the residents of Grand Bay-Westfield joining our service area, we look forward to serving you.
