On June 28, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm, Selkirk RCMP received a report that two males walked into a business on Manitoba Avenue in Selkirk, filled two bags with merchandise, and when confronted by employees, threatened them with a knife. Nobody was physically injured.
The two male suspects then fled the store on foot, joined by a third male. Officers responded immediately and located one male walking through a nearby field. The 23-year-old from Winnipeg was arrested, and two knives and a straight blade were located on his person.
A short time later, officers located and arrested a second male, a 32-year-old from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and then a third male, a 39-year-old from Winnipeg. All were found in separate locations.
The 32-year-old male was arrested on an outstanding warrant, but was not charged in relation to the Selkirk armed robbery. The 23-year-old is charged with Robbery with Offensive Weapon, Uttering Threats Against a Person x3, and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purposes. The 39-year-old is charged with Robbery.
All three have been released from custody.
