Redwater RCMP execute warrant and locate wanted male

On Jan. 23, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m., Redwater RCMP, with the assistance of Westlock RCMP and Athabasca RCMP as well as RCMP Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, Police Dog Services, Integrated Offender Management Unit and Eastern Alberta General Investigation Services executed a warrant at a rural residence in Thorhild County, Alta. The warrant was issued following an investigation into an aggravated assault that occurred on July 30, 2023.

Upon police arrival, the accused was sitting in a stolen vehicle. After initial contact with police, the accused fled the scene narrowly avoiding striking a police officer. RCMP followed the suspect and were eventually able to disable the vehicle and arrest the suspect. No injuries were reported in relation to this occurrence.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old individual, a resident of Fawcett, Alta., was arrested on multiple warrants, including the warrant for aggravated assault. Furthermore, the individual was charged with:

  • Fraudulently taking property (x2);
  • Failing to stop for peace officer;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime; and
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. The individual will appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. on Jan. 25, 2024.
