On July 3, 2024, officers from Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT), with assistance from Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), Police Dog Services (PDS) and Wetaskiwin RCMP, successfully executed a search warrant at a residence located in the South Hill area of Red Deer. This operation led to the recovery of multiple items believed to be obtained through criminal activity. Among the recovered items were a significant quantity of cannabis products, firearms, ammunition, body armour and a collection of valuable hockey card collectibles. As a result, Red Deer RCMP have arrested two individuals:
A 38-year-old individual, a resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5000
- Unsafe storage of firearms
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm x2
- Possession of weapon obtained by crime x2
- Possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized x2
- Weapons possession contrary to order x2
- Possess body armour without a valid permit
- Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000 x6
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 x3
- Possess break-in instruments
- Possession of Methamphetamine
A 38-year-old individual, a resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5000
- Unsafe storage of firearms
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm x3
- Possession of firearm without licence/registrations x2
- Possession of weapon obtain by crime x2
- Possess body armour without a valid permit
- Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000 x5
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 x2
- Possession of methamphetamine
Both individuals were taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. The 38-year-old individual is scheduled to appear in court on July 30, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer. The second 38-year-old individual is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
