On the evening of June 27, 2024, Red Deer RCMP responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing incident on a city transit bus.
Police responded immediately to the Clearview Meadows area of Red Deer. Reports indicated that one passenger had stabbed another passenger while exiting the bus and then fleeing the scene.
Multiple units from your Red Deer RCMP, including General Duty, Police Dog Services (PDS) and Downtown Patrol Unit (DPU), coordinated to search for the suspect who was quickly located and apprehended, preventing further risk to public safety.
The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to Red Deer Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

Charges are pending against a 32-year old individual, a resident of Red Deer. An update will be provided once a judicial interim release hearing is complete.
