The St. George RCMP is asking for the public's help following a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian in the community.
On February 3, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., members of the St. George RCMP detachment, along with members of Ambulance New Brunswick, responded to a report of an individual laying on the shoulder of the road in the eastbound lane of Route 1, on the Magaguadavic overpass. When police arrived at the scene, they located a 45-year-old man who was nearly unconscious and was suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to hospital, and his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
As a result of the investigation, police believe that the man was struck by an eastbound vehicle at a high rate of speed, and remained there for approximately one hour before being found by a patrolling Conservation officer.
Police are currently working to identify the suspect vehicle, that is believed to have apparent passenger-side damage, and are asking for the public's help. If you were travelling in the area and witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage, or if you have information that could help further the investigation, please contact the St. George RCMP at 506-755-1130. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
