Update- It was determined the death of the 43-year-old male that occurred in Black River on August 18, 2024, was the result of homicide.
On August 31, 2024, Anthony Fagnan, 33, of Winnipeg, was charged with Manslaughter. He was remanded into custody.
August 19, 2024
On August 18, 2024, at approximately 8:00 am, Powerview RCMP responded to a report of a deceased male located at a residence on Mayaa Road in the community of Black River.
Officers attended and located a 43-year-old male who was pronounced deceased on scene.
The cause of death remains under investigation as we await the results of the autopsy.
Powerview RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
