The New Brunswick RCMP's 2022 Annual Report, Working together to create a safer New Brunswick, is now available online.
"Each year, we are proud to release our annual report as part of our commitment to being accountable and transparent to the communities we serve," says Cpl. Hans Ouellette with the New Brunswick RCMP. "In 2022, we continued to prioritize efficient and effective approaches to policing, while developing relationships with our communities and partners that we will continue to build upon."
In 2022, the RCMP responded to nearly 150-thousand calls for service, including 5,726 calls under the Mental Health Act, a 15.9 per cent increase since 2020. The top Criminal Code offence in 2022 was assault, with 3,250 calls.
"In 2022, we saw the direct impact of the excellent work that our specialized units have been doing," says Cpl. Ouellette. "This includes a 23.81% decrease in drug trafficking offences, which represents the work of our Provincial Crime Reduction Unit, and a 24.12% decrease in impaired driving offences, representing the work of our Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit."
The annual report also highlights the important police work that the New Brunswick RCMP has done throughout the year, as well as policing priorities and initiatives.
