A 26-year-old man from Temperance Vale, N.B., is facing seven charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, following several ongoing investigations in the western part of the province.
On April 8, 2024, members of the Woodstock Police Force attempted to intercept a stolen pickup truck in Woodstock, N.B. The vehicle then fled into RCMP jurisdiction using Route 105.
Members of the Western Valley Detachment, the Oromocto Detachment, along with the assistance from the RCMP's Police Dog Services and the RCMP Air Services, were deployed and located the vehicle in Nackawic, N.B.
The driver and sole occupant, in an attempt to flee, collided with a police vehicle and ran into a residential area. Police Dog Services tracked the man, eventually locating and arresting him. Subsequent to the arrest, police conducted a search of the vehicle and seized a prohibited weapon, a quantity of methamphetamine, and several stolen items.
On April 9, Kyle Stairs appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court, and was charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
- Resisting and obstruction of a police officer
- Mischief
- Fail to comply with a probation order
- Possession of a weapon contrary to an order
- Possession of a controlled substance
He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
