On Jan. 27, 2024, Killam RCMP was dispatched to a reported shooting in Hardisty. Upon arrival, members located a male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The male was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Edmonton where he remains in critical condition.
As a result of the investigation, which was assisted by Forensic Identification Services and Eastern Alberta District General Investigation Section, a 42-year-old individual was charged with several offences, including:
- Attempted murder;
- Pointing a firearm;
- Careless use of a firearm;
- Aggravated assault; and
- Assault with a weapon.
The 42-year-old individual was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with a next court date set for Feb. 7, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Camrose, Alta.
