East Prince RCMP respond to call of hog barn fire in Albany, PEI

East Prince RCMP responded to a large fire at a farm on Murray Road in Albany at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

At the time PEI RCMP responded to the fire, Borden Carleton Fire Department was on scene and soon after Kinkora Fire Department also arrived. The fire was extensive, with several building engulfed in flames by 4:00 a.m., and two buildings fully engulfed shortly thereafter.

The property is the site of a hog operation and it is believed many of the animals perished in the fire. The Fire Marshall is investigating and PEI RCMP are awaiting details of this report as part of their investigation, which is also ongoing.
