On April 30, 2024, at approximately 5 p.m., the General Investigation Section (GIS) of the Drumheller RCMP along with Drumheller General Duty members, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 Block of South Rail Way Avenue in Drumheller.
As a result of the search warrant, drugs, money and supporting evidence were seized; including:
- Cocaine;
- Fentanyl;
- Methamphetamine;
- Morphine;
- Four Cell phones;
- Unstamped Illegal Tobacco; and
- Canadian currency.
As part of the police operation, and with assistance from the public, the suspect was located and arrested safely and without incident at the nearby Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club.
The suspect in this matter, is a 54-year-old individual, a resident of Drumheller, was also found to be bound by a Release Order and was on a Conditional Sentence Order related to prior drug trafficking. The individual was charged with:
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking;
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking;
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking;
- Possession of Morphine for the Purpose of Trafficking;
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime;
- Breach of release order x 2 Counts; and
- Breach of his Conditional Sentence Order.
The individual was held for a judicial interim release hearing on May 1, 2024, and his matters were held over; he remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Siksika Nation, Alta., on May 2, 2024 for a bail hearing.
