Cross Lake RCMP respond to shooting

On May 30, 2024, at approximately 12:15 am, Cross Lake RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired at a residence in a North End neighbourhood in Pimicikamak Cree Nation. Officers responded immediately to the area, as no specific address was confirmed. When the residence was located, officers found an injured 13-year-old male inside.

The victim received an upper body injury from a firearm and was transported to the Nursing Station and then to hospital in Winnipeg, where he remains in stable condition. Nobody else in the home at the time was physically injured. Police do not believe the youth was the target.

Officers recovered a firearm on scene outside the residence.
